A New And Improved Interface To Empower Your Boarding Management

Vincent Paget

July 27, 2017

In this day and age, you need fast, reliable access to your boarding data, so you can keep track of everyone’s movements and account for their safety 24/7.That’s why we created a simpler, more functional system to help you execute world-class boarding management practices. Our new web-app will come with a brand new interface, increased functionality and control over your data, plus a brand new feature that’s going to blow your mind. Here’s what’s new...

1. Navigating Your Data Just Got Easier

The most valuable aspect of a boarding management system is its ability to provide you with real-time student data at your fingertips. But, that may all be pointless if you can’t find the right information when you need it most. With that in mind, we focused heavily on designing a clean and functional interface that you can use to find what you need, and execute management tasks without breaking a sweat. Here are some highlights of our new design:

Organise Students In A Tile View:

The first thing you’ll notice in the new web app is the tile view. Each tile includes a large student photo and all their vital leave and pastoral information so you can quickly understand what’s happening.

Dynamic Select Bar:

You can now select students without having to scroll through a long list and search for their name. With our new select bar, all you have to do is start typing while Boardingware dynamically displays student names that match. Then just press enter on the correct one to add that student to your selection.

Drill Down With Advanced Filters:

Our new filters provide you with more options to explore your data. Easily find out which students are on weekend leave, or who is at the mall or which students are on the discipline watchlist. It’s all just one click away.

Enhanced Student Profiles:

Student profiles have changed too, giving you a new layout that displays all their details in one easy to read screen. All historical leave, pastoral and roll records have been combined into a single timeline to give you a more accurate and complete view of their past activity. Filtering options are also included to allow you to dive deep to retrieve specific records when needed.

Customisable Roll Calls:

It’s also now easier than ever to start and customise your roll calls. Before starting a roll, you can define the roll type (ie. morning roll, dinner roll), enable students to be automatically checked-in when present, select which houses and student group the roll is for and also invite multiple staff to join in as a live roll.

Mobile Responsive Design:

The new interface adapts beautifully to screens of all sizes. So you can comfortably access your data no matter what device you’re on. This improvement will also help us to create new applications for other devices (Hint hint: Android). Watch this space!

2. Efficiently Organise Your Leave Requests

The leave request process is by and large the most complicated part of boarding management. There’s a lot of moving parts, multiple people that need to approve or endorse requests and several checks and balances that need to be made.So in this update, we’ve re-designed the leave process to give you a clear and concise way to manage student leave requests.

View the entire journey at a glance: All your leave requests are organised in one place, with each individual request displaying an overview of their entire journey, including departure/return times, destination, transport options and approval progress. This gives you everything you need at a glance, so you can prioritise your work as needed.Only see requests that require your attention: Sometimes you don’t need to be involved with every leave request. That’s why we created a section called “My Endorsements” that automatically organises leave requests that are awaiting your endorsement. Now you can remove the clutter and focus on the requests that require your attention.Prioritise overdue requests: All overdue requests are also organised in their own section, making it easy for you to prioritise and review requests that are have passed the departure time without approval.

3. New "Real-time Schedule" To Coordinate Departures and Returns

As part of this update, we’re excited to also include a brand new feature called “Schedule”. Schedule will provide you with a real-time overview of your upcoming departures and returns. Ultimately it will take the hard work out of coordinating leave and give you one place to do all your final checks and balances.

Schedule can be used in two ways:

  1. Timeline - The timeline gives you a visual overview of every student’s leave schedule. For any particular day, you can see who is going on leave, when they’re going, where they’re going, and when they’re returning. You can also edit and sign students in or out right from the timeline itself. It’s a quick and simple way to quickly see what you have planned for the day..
  2. List view - If you need more details at a glance then you can use the “departure” and “return” categories to view a list of your upcoming leave activity. Here you can evaluate their leave details, and sign them in or out in just a few clicks.
